We want everyone who orders to understand exactly what our product can and cannot do, so you know what to expect.

1. This shower filter is not designed to reduce the TDS (total dissolved solids). Many water amateurs and companies that want to promote water filters use TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) as the key water quality testing method. The reason is that it’s very easy and cheap to measure. The problem is that this is not a good measure of water quality.

TDS meters measure the conductivity of the water, which can help identify salts and other minerals. However, chlorine, iron, mercury, chloramine, herbicides, pesticides, VOC’s, etc, do not impact the conductivity of the water, so they would not be picked up by a TDS meter.

In other words, TDS meters cannot detect toxic & harmful chemicals in water, therefore they should not be relied on to measure water quality.

2. This shower filter cannot completely remove Chloramine. NO SHOWER FILTER CAN.

Some of our customers have received their filters and are eager to perform a chlorine test not realizing that they are living in an area that puts chloramine in the water and they get surprised and leave us negative reviews when it appears like all the chlorine hasn’t been filtered from their water. Well, if this happens to you, it’s chloramine and not chlorine. Different water municipalities in the United States treat their water with different chemicals. Chlorine is the most popular chemical being used to disinfect water with chloramine being the second most popular. Roughly 70% of the United States uses chlorine and 30% are using chloramine.

Our shower filter can reduce chloramine levels, but it can’t reduce them as effectively as it does for chlorine. The reason for this is because chloramine is much more stable of a chemical than chlorine. The filter would need to have the water flowing more slowly through it to more effectively filter chloramine, but in a shower, the water is flowing rather quickly, not giving the filter enough time to breakdown the chloramine effectively. There is no shower filter that exists that can completely remove chloramines.

Now for those of you who do have chloramines in your water rather than chlorine, no need to be discouraged, because although the chloramine filtration rates are lower than they are for chlorine. This shower filter still utilizes the highest quality activated carbon filtration media which is the gold standard in water filtration.
